Struggling with diabetes? See what I have done with Antioxidants, diet and exercise.
I have not written much in my blogs recently, I have been immersed in reading some great books. I have just finished reading: The Four Agreements, The Four Agreements companion book and The Fifth Agreement by Don Miguel Ruiz. These books teach the ways of the Toltec Seers. I am not going to explain everything about these books in this article; I think it is best served if you read them for yourself.
But I have been thinking how this may fit with people dealing with diabetes and would like to share my opinion here today.
The Four Agreements are: Be Impeccable with your words, Don’t take anything personal, Don’t make assumptions and Always do your best.
As we look at these agreements and then apply them to our disease of Diabetes, I think most would find that we judge ourselves and beat ourselves up over how we may have taken care of our bodies in the past. As most of you know that type 2 diabetes is a lifestyle disease and we regret not taking better care of ourselves in the past. We may also play the victim in this and possibly diminish our abilities with the “woe is me” syndrome. The Four Agreements addresses this type of behavior.
Are you beating yourself up over the past? Are you being honest with yourself and others? Are you doing your best in controlling your diabetes?
The Four Agreements changes how we look at life and how we deal with each day. If we work on our personal lives in this manner, I think we will be able to work on our struggle with diabetes ever better. This is only my opinion and you need to read the books and decide for yourself. Don Miguel Ruiz has done a great job with these books and his teaching are there for you to apply into your life, only if you have a desire to change the dream of your life.
Here is a link to Don’s great books on Amazon.
I hope you seriously look at this book and decide to read it. I am currently implementing the teachings into my life today.
Diabetes continues to rise in the U.S. according to a recent Gallop Survey. This survey states that 26 million American have diabetes and many millions likely have diabetes but just don’t know it. This is 11.3% of the U.S. population and based on past calculation this number could rise to 37 million by 2015. These are just staggering numbers but if we look at the rise in obesity we may find some correlation.
The same study shows the obesity rate rise 1% every quarter. People that fall in the obese category are three times more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than those below the obese level. Here are some statistics that are several years old but still are shocking.
• 58 Million Overweight; 40 Million Obese; 3 Million morbidly Obese
• Eight out of 10 over 25's Overweight
• 78% of American's not meeting basic activity level recommendations
• 25% completely Sedentary
• 76% increase in Type II diabetes in adults 30-40 yrs old since 1990
Source: Wellness International Network Ltd – http://web.winltd.com
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website has more up to date numbers. In one of their reports we may be able to see just why we are seeing such an increase. The chart below shows the increase in childhood obesity.
Data from NHANES I (1971–1974) to NHANES 2003–2006 show increases in overweight among all age groups:
• Among preschool-aged children, aged 2–5 years, the prevalence of overweight increased from 5.0% to 12.4%.8, 46
• Among school-aged children, aged 6–11 years, the prevalence of overweight increased from 4.0% to 17.0%.8, 46
• Among school-aged adolescents, aged 12–19 years, the prevalence of overweight increased from 6.1% to 17.6%.8, 46
Source: http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/childhood/prevalence.html
So as we look at these statistics we see a dramatic increase in all ages and this habit that is formed in childhood is very difficult to break in the adult years.
So how does the increase in obesity correlate with the increase in diabetes? With a 10.4% increase over last two years, diabetes increases run very comparable to the obesity increases. Type 2 diabetes, which is linked to obesity and physical inactivity, accounts for 90%–95% of diabetes cases. So it is very evident that our weigh plays a significant role in the onset of diabetes.
An article on WebMD states:
"The upward trends in obesity rates almost certainly play a substantive role in the increase in diabetes rates over the same time period," the survey states. "More than one-fifth of obese adults [have diabetes]" -- or 21.2%, compared to 7.4% of non-obese people of comparable ages.
Source: http://diabetes.webmd.com/news/20091028/diabetes-on-the-rise-in-us
So is adding diabetic medications the best treatment for diabetes? If we have determined the root of the problem to be inactivity and obesity, then wouldn’t it make sense to treat the root of the problem rather than mask the problem with medications?
Well another article on WebMD called Diet Beats Drugs for Diabetes Prevention shows that treating the root of the problem may be a better treatment. This article talks about an ongoing study with 3,000 high-risk patients. One third of the patients in the study were asked to eat a low fat diet and engage in at least 30 minute of exercise 5 times a week. Another third was put on the diabetic drug called metformin and the final third had no changes.
To quote directly from the article, this sums it up. “Three years into the trial, Knowler and colleagues reported that diabetes incidence was reduced by a whopping 58% in the lifestyle intervention group and 31% in the metformin group, compared to people who received no intervention.” The article also states: "Weight loss is still the most important thing we have to recommend to overweight people at risk for type 2 diabetes," William C. Knowler, MD, of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).

Medications may be needed to get your diabetes under control but as you loss the weight and start eating right it may be possible to get off. Medications have a place but they should not be used as an easy out. All medications have some sort of side effects and a healthier plan may be better for you in the long run.
As we look at these statistics it is easy to wonder why people just don’t loose the weight and be fit. If we use the numbers previously stated, just dropping some weight and exercising each day we could lower the number of people with diabetes in half or 13 million. Such an easy task makes sense but it must not be that easy. Our busy lifestyle of today make it difficult to find the time to exercise, to find the time to prepare healthy meals and find the time to teach our children to do the same. Adding proper nutrient products can help with our diet and help avoid further complication from diabetes but the exercise has to fit in your day some way.
I am a diabetic and I have found success with diet, exercise and proper nutrients. I encourage everyone to take a harder look at their lifestyle and see if they are headed towards diabetes or if they have already arrived.

Synergy Supports JDRF Synergy will never deviate from our desire to leave a legacy of good. We are constantly involved with local and international charity groups and efforts, and it is a priority for us to continue to find new ways we can share. When we look for opportunities to donate time and money, we seek out groups that have wide-spread effects, especially those that benefit children. One charity that is dear to the heart of our executives is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leading non-governmental funder of type 1 diabetes research in the world. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and it’s complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is typically diagnosed in young children and comes on rapidly without any known cause. This diagnosis leaves these children insulin-dependent for life, pricking their fingers up to 10-12 times a day to test their blood glucose. They also have to compensate with insulin for every gram of carbohydrate they eat. Synergy Founder and CEO Dan Higginson serves as a member of the Board of Chancellors for JDRF and acted as Corporate Chairman for the primary fundraiser for JDRF, Walk to Cure Diabetes, in 2005 and 2006. This year, he has been instrumental in setting up a motorcycle ride to raise money for the foundation. The Lavapalooza 2009 Woodstock Tribute will be “A Day of Peace, Music + Motorcycles” – a hard-core/Harley riding/Jimi Hendrix loving crowd joining together to support Juvenile Diabetes. Because we believe this is such an important cause, we are joining together to raise money for the JDRF. Dan has set a personal goal of raising $10,000 to further this effort and with our help he can reach it. No amount is too small in our quest for a cure! Your donation and support of JDRF is greatly appreciated. With the help and generosity of Synergy Team Members, we are confident that we will reach our fundraising goal this year. You can donate by cash or check, or online by credit card. Dan’s personal donation homepage can be visited at Walk . Thank you for your kindness and support in helping us reach our goal and make a difference through JDRF. |
About 60 days ago she decided to go to a doctor that specializes in more of a dietary approach. She had many different blood tests before starting anything. She has high liver enzymes, high cholesterol and many vitamin deficiencies. The doctor started her on a special diet and a regimen of nutritional supplements. But she found out that the V3 system that I was taking for my diabetes had all the supplements she needed except for MSM and SAMe.
She started the diet with the V3 system plus MSM and SAMe. The results have been close to amazing. She has lost 22 pounds in 28 days and has more energy that she has had in many years. The pain has resided but not completely gone. She sleeps better at night and accomplishes much more during the days.
Now I don’t contribute this completely to Synergy’s V3 but I think the combination of all she is doing is working. She gets antioxidants and omega 3 from the Mistica. Vitamin D, vitamin b’s and l-arginine from the Proargi. These products provide some of the recommended nutrients from the doctor.
This doctor only provided a sheet with the nutrients and proper dosage; he did not promote any products. He did make suggestions of some good companies to buy from, but we found Synergy could provide everything but the MSM and SAMe.
I am providing this story to show how Synergy can help people improve their health. Now these products will not perform miracles, but with proper eating and regular use of Synergy’s products, you can make a difference in you health.
One more thing! She lost all of this weight without any exercise whatsoever.
Almost every person knows someone or has a family member with diabetes. The diets of many increase the odds for this disease. The American Diabetes Association in there 2007 ADA statement estimates 17.5 million Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes. Another 7 million Americans are undiagnosed. The ADA also estimates the yearly cost to be $174 billion. This is a staggering $11,744 per year in related costs to the individual with diabetes.
Diabetes can lead to severe complications. Blindness, heart disease, lower limb amputation and kidney damage are just a few of the major complications. The sad part of this disease is that more than half of the people in a pre-diabetes type II condition could correct their conditions with healthy diet and exercise. A healthy diet and exercise can also reduce the complication that may occur in people with diabetes. Creating a life around healthy foods and daily exercise is a must to reduce the risks associated with diabetes.
Eating a healthy diet is sometimes difficult with the types of foods that are offered in the American society. High fat high carbohydrates seem to be the quick and the cheap. Americans always seem to be in a hurry so this type of diet fits right in. The cost of eating healthy is sometimes a challenge for people with low or fixed incomes. Take a look at the cost of a salad compared to the high fat 99 cent menu at the standard fast food drive up. Any item that has low fat, low carb or healthy on the label seem to cost more than the regular item. But if everyone would look at the $11,744 per year cost associated with diabetes it may help justify the additional cost of a healthier diet.
Proper exercise has become commercialized and unreal expectations are trying to be achieved. Then finding time to follow the new exercise fads of the month is difficult. Again we are back to the fast paced life style many of us Americans live. Many believe that the club or gym is the only answer. But again we are dealing with time and money. For most with diabetes a long walk or light exercise at home may make all the difference that is needed. Too many people don’t think that complications will happen to them. So they push the limits with foods, over weight, not enough exercise and not spending the money for medications. Then the life style sets back in and before they know it the complication start. At this point it may be too late. Many of the complications of diabetes may make it difficult to exercise or control their blood sugar level as before.
I am a diabetic with type II diabetes and I have found a life style change that is keeping my diabetes in check. I slip from time to time but I continue to create a life style and don’t look at it as a big issue. Prior to being diagnosed my weight had fluctuated over fifty pounds. I would lose it and then gain it back and then lose and then gain.
I set a New Year resolution one year to change my life style and get my health in control. I continually told myself I was going to weight 190 and live a healthy life style. By June I started to have eye sight problems and gastrointestinal problems. But I continually keep telling myself I was going to get healthy. In September I was diagnosed with diabetes. When I was in with my endocrinologist he told me that if I did everything he told me, I would be healthier and more fit than I ever had. Bam like a ton of bricks! My affirmations came true.
A year later I am living a healthier and better life than I had. I have lost 65 pounds. I have reduced my medications to almost nothing. Diabetes forced me to live a healthier life. If I had only changed my life style 5 years earlier I may have never been diagnosed with diabetes.
I exercise three times a week in my home, I control what I eat and not to any extreme and take a special nutritional supplement. This is a basic lifestyle change and not some radical change that makes it impossible. Make the change workable, achievable and you too can have a healthy lifestyle. This should be for everyone not just people suffering from diabetes.
Take a look at your fast paced lifestyle and see if your are headed down the same path as me. Now may be the time to take control.
I am always willing to share my success and plan with others in hopes to provide some help.
Please e-mail me at spiderwealth@gmail.com and I will explain my plan.
This last Saturday, June 20, 2009 I attended a meeting in
I am a diabetic and Dr. Joe Prendergast is an Endocrinologist, so this made for a very interesting subject for me. I think if you are reading this blog you have some interest in diabetes, so this may interest you also.
Dr. Joe, as I will refer to him, talked a lot about how the medical world is rethinking how we may deal with diabetes. Controlling the blood sugar levels has always been the focus for a diabetic. But with the development of Proargi 9 plus, Dr. Joe has been controlling the complications of diabetes and not worrying as much about controlling the blood sugar levels. He made a statement that made me think he is right on track. He stated that if you can control the complications like heart disease, high blood pressure, poor circulation, cholesterol, kidney functions and provide overall good health then why worry so much about whether your blood sugar numbers are staying in the perfect range?
Wow, that made me think that if you really can control these major complications with a proper nutrient and in a more natural way than harsh medications then this may be the answer that we all should be looking for. Because the reason we control our blood sugar is so we have less risk of these complications. This was a big take away from this excellent meeting.
Another interesting topic was around the deficiency of Vitamin D. This subject has been in the news very regularly lately. Doctors are finding that the recommended daily dose of 200 IU is just not enough, that it should be 2500 IUs for health adults and up to 50,000 IUs for unhealthy adults. Proargi 9 Plus had 2500 IUs per scoop and you should be taking two to four scoops a day. Well Dr. Joe suggests adding more Vitamin D to the Proargi 9 Plus through a spray that will be coming on to the market soon.
I can not cover all the great this Dr. Joe talked about but here are two that really impressed me. I have been taking Proargi 9 Plus for nearly 6 months and have my diabetes under control. My last A1c test was 4.7 down from 11.7 almost 18 months ago. I have reduced my medications to almost nothing and feel great.
A new slogan that my group has come up with is “Let’s Save a Million Lives”. Now I think that is a goal I want to add in my life. I can’t do this on my own; it takes a determined team to make this happen. I am on this team and would like to invite you to join this team and help make this goal a reality.
You can join by going to http://mydiabetes.mysynergy.net and register as a distributor. But if you only want to save your own life then go to this same site and register as a preferred customer. Either way you are still helping to achieve this worth while goal.
Doctors and nutritionists alike unanimously proclaim the importance of large amounts of fruits and vegetables in a healthy diet. But finding the time to eat the recommended five to nine servings a day can be a daunting task. Synergy's Core Greens and its enhanced Green Fusion Technology help you bridge the gap and provide the protection your body needs for optimal health and continual vigor.
Do you get your 5 to 9 servings of vegetables each day? Difficult isn’t it?
Vegetables are the building blocks of a healthy body and many today just don’t get enough vegetables in their daily diet. So just why are the leafy greens so important for us to maintain proper health?
Core Greens was developed to help provide a daily dose of the needed greens. Mix up a scoop of Core Greens and the task is complete.
Here are a few of the key points that Core Greens has to offer.
Phytonutrients (pronounced “fight-o-nutrients”), are natural bioactive compounds found in fruits and vegetables that works together with vitamins, minerals, and fiber to promote good health. The National Cancer Institute recommends eating at least 5 – 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. In addition to helping you feel better eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can also help reduce your risk of many chronic diseases including cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and other diseases. But it is difficult to eat enough fruits and vegetables to get the recommended dosage of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to stay healthy, unless we are taking some form of vitamin supplement. However, traditional vitamin supplements do not provide us with phytonutrients. But Core Greens will provide you with the proper dose.
Antioxidants are substances or nutrients in our foods which can prevent or slow the oxidative damage to our body. When our body cells use oxygen, they naturally produce free radicals (by-products) which can cause damage. Antioxidants act as "free radical scavengers" and hence prevent and repair damage done by these free radicals. But are we really getting enough antioxidants in our daily meals?
Science has known for years the benefits of chlorophyll; without chlorophyll, the 'green blood' of plant / photosynthesis, life as we know it could not exist. Until recently, most research involving plants has been geared towards 'better plants' for 'better meat'". For years it was thought that the protein we needed could only come from meat.
Chlorophyll provides an all natural detoxification. As more and more research is done, scientists are learning that chlorophyll is not only a cleansing and blood builder food, but that it can be used to counter radiation and may prevent certain cancers from forming. In addition, another little known benefit of chlorophyll is its ability to kill some germs, promote intestinal health and its use as a topical skin healer.
An advanced process that concentrates chlorophyll and other photosynthetic elements from grasses and other vegetables into a convenient, easily digestible form to help protect healthy cells, support the immune system, and act as a natural detoxifier. In fact, a good Green Fusion product will provide all the necessary ingredients to meet the five keys to optimal health and nutrition.
The foods you eat have a major impact on your body’s acid-alkaline balance. Digestion of processed foods, for example, will create acidic byproducts that flow into the bloodstream. The more processed foods (sugars, refined carbohydrates, etc.) you eat, the more acid-byproducts will be created and the more acidic your bloodstream will become. Core Greens puts the alkali back in your body.
These green ingredients help provide phytonutrients, chlorophyll and antioxidants. Combined with the Green Fusion Technology we can get the most from these ingredients.
Wheat Grass, Oat Sprout Powder, Barley Grass, Lemon Grass, Avocado Fruit Powder, Cucumber Powder, Okra Powder, Celery Seed Powder, Parsley Leaves, Spinach Powder, Kale Powder, Broccoli Powder, Cabbage Powder, Tomato Fruit Powder, Watercress Leaves, Wintergreen Leaves Powder, Peppermint Leaves, Rosemary Leaves, Sage Leaves, Spearmint Leaves & Flowers, Thyme Leaves.
Now just how many of these ingredients would you normally eat in a day?
Core Greens is one of the three products that make up Synergy Worldwide’s V3 Nutritional System.

Wins Nobel Prize, Then Gets Buried!
And this is not unproven hokum. It won Dr. Ignarro the Nobel Prize!
No doubt you're wondering, "I don't get it. He won the Nobel Prize. Why haven't I heard about it?" I'm afraid the reason is that this amazing discovery has been...
Did you know that 1 out of 3 people will end up with some form of heart disease? Also did you know that 2 out of 3 people with diabetes will die from heart disease or stroke? People with diabetes have twice the chance of getting heart disease, so what is the correlation between heart disease and diabetes? People with diabetes have a higher rate of high blood pressure, a higher rate of cholesterol and a much higher rate of hardening of the arteries. It is suggested that the added stress to the heart from the ups and downs of blood sugar levels may contribute to these higher rates of problems. It is also suggested that with this additional stress to the circulatory system the veins and arteries contract and can not relax. This constant contractions leads to the hardening of the arteries, restricted blood flow and higher blood pressure.
Another suggestion that has recently been talked about in the medical world is nitric oxide. It has been found that people with diabetes have lower levels of nitric oxide in their blood stream. It is not sure why but suggested that the diabetic stress or contracted arteries may be part of this lower level. What is nitric oxide and what does it do? Nitric oxide is produced when we take in an amino acid called l-arginine. L-arginine comes from red meat and some nuts, but most people as they age need more l-arginine and usually eat less of the foods that provide it. Nitric oxide stimulates the endothelia and causes the artery to relax. This is the only purpose of nitric oxide but is so vital to a healthy circulatory system. Relaxed arteries and veins reduce plaque build up, reduce high blood pressure and reduce hardening of the arteries. So nitric oxide in the body is crucial and is many times absent, leading to heart disease.
But it needs to be noted that just taking a l-arginine supplement may not always help. Another amino acid need to assist l-arginine is l-citruline. L-citruline helps the nitric oxide last longer in the blood stream. With out l-citruline the nitric oxide is very short lived and thus not reaching all parts of the circulatory system. So what are some steps to reduce the most evident chance a diabetic will get heart disease? The American Diabetes Association suggests following you ABCs of diabetes. A is for keeping your A1c in check or below 7 B is for keeping your blood pressure in line C is for keeping your cholesterol levels down They also suggest losing weight, stop smoking, physical exercise and staying on your medication. But I want to take this a step further. As you noticed the ADA never once mentioned taking a supplement of l-arginine, increasing omega fatty acids or using any natural products to help with a healthier body. If you look hard on the ADA or the AHA site you will find that the main sponsors of these sites are the major pharmaceutical companies. They want to keep you on the medications and not completely stop the use of their products. That is why I want to offer an addition to the ADA recommendations.
If you study l-arinine and the affects that nitric oxide has on the circulatory system, you will find it does many great things for our bodies. Many of the complications of diabetes are related to poor circulation. So if you can increase blood circulation, relax the vessels and lower blood pressure many of these complications would be drastically reduced. One example is the loss of limbs, which are the most common complications. This is because the feet and legs are the farthest from the heart and without proper blood flow to them; they begin to die, resulting in amputation. A strong l-arginine, l-citruline complex may be just the product to help diabetics with better overall circulation.
I want to introduce you to an endocrinologist that has spent his life researching and studying what l-arginine can do for diabetics. Dr. Joe Predergast has an operating endocrinologist practice in California. Dr. Predergast has been treating patients for years with a product called Proagri 9 Plus. Prior to using this l-arginine supplement he regularly referred patients onto several different heart specialists. Now he very seldom refers patients to any heart specialist. He has taken heart disease out of his diabetic patients, anyway the ones willing to take the product. Another great reference to the benefits of l-arginine is a book called No More Heart Disease by Dr. Louis Ignarro. Dr. Ignarro along with two other doctors won the Nobel Prize with their discovery of what nitric oxide does to the circulatory system.
So you might ask why we do not hear more about this. Well the pharmaceutical industry makes billions a year on heart and diabetes medications. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in men and women; diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death. The pharmaceutical industry continue to keep adding products to reduce this rate but still has not done so, but they sure keep increasing their sales. So do your research and you decide if Proargi 9 Plus may benefit you or someone you may know? The evidence is out there and is evident in Dr. Prendergst's practice.
